Welcome Firefox Users!
I welcome users who may be viewing Interstate275Florida.com on the Firefox browser, and I'm glad you stopped by! If you are wondering why things look a little different on Firefox than on Internet Explorer 7, here's why.
First and foremost, Interstate275Florida.com was coded using Microsoft FrontPage 2003. (Which is why you see the spiffy navigation features as well as the side and banner images!) It makes for creating a great website; unfortunately, the trade-off is that Microsoft inserts all this extraneous HTML code so that the web page can render properly in any web browser - Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7, that is. Unfortunately, when this extraneous code is read by any other browser such as Firefox, Firefox does not know what to do with it.
(By the way, I coded this page (the page you are viewing right now) using Microsoft Notepad, the text editor accessory that is included with Windows, rather than using FrontPage. That way, the Microsoft-specific coding won't show up and this page should be readable by all browsers, including Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox. Want proof? Click on View, then Source (applicable to both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox) to see the HTML code for this page!)
Second, portions of Interstate275Florida.com, especially the photo galleries, were generated from within FrontPage 2003 and require a web hosting service that runs FrontPage Server Extensions so that the photo galleries can work properly. The same thing goes for the hit counters found on both home pages.
Third, as a result some page elements, especially in the photo galleries, may show up in Firefox as smaller text in the photo gallery than in the rest of the page.
Granted, there are a substantial number of Internet users out there using Firefox as an alternative to Internet Explorer 7, and you have a choice when it comes to what Internet browser you want to use. However, the majority of Internet users from what I believe still use Internet Explorer 7 as the browser of choice. Moreover, if you work in a corporate environment, your employer will more than likely force you to use Internet Explorer 7 as the browser you will use.
I have set up a secondary laptop computer I own as a test laboratory and I have installed both Internet Explorer 7 as well as Firefox on that laptop. From time to time (as my time permits) I will check out my websites on Firefox to see what may need to be tweaked (within the limitations of FrontPage 2003, of course).
Bottom line: You get what you pay for, especially when it comes to web design software.
