Introduction

Constructed in 1982 the eighth segment of Interstate 275 begins at Queensboro Av S and takes the highway over 22 Av S and 26 Av S, stopping temporarily at 39 Av S.  Like its counterparts at 28 St S and 31 St S, both interchanges feature partial exits.  22 Av S has a double northbound entrance (for traffic coming from eastbound and westbound 22 Av S) and a single southbound exit, while 26 Av S has a southbound entrance and a northbound exit.

22 Av S takes motorists to Gulfport, South Pasadena and St. Pete Beach via Pasadena Blvd. South.  The Stetson University College of Law is also reached at this exit.  Northbound travelers can exit at 26 Av S and follow the signs to 22 Av S.

Southbound Interstate 275 at Exit 19

Mileage sign for the next three exits after 28 St S (Exit 21)

22 Av S is 3/4 miles ahead while the Pinellas Bayway (FL 682) is 2-1/2 miles ahead and Pinellas Point Drive (the last exit in St. Petersburg) is 4 miles away.

22 Av S is 1/2 mile ahead

Notice the dedicated right exit only lane as we cross 31 St S.

Headed to Gulfport or the Stetson University College of Law?

22 Av S (Exit 19) is your exit; simply proceed west on 22 Av S after you exit.

Final opportunity for 22 Av S

Taken as we cross 18 Av S. Again notice the dedicated right exit only lane.

Northbound Interstate 275 at Exit 18

Heading to a Rays game at Tropicana Field?

In addition to using Exit 22 (Interstate 175 east) and exiting at Martin Luther King St S, you can also use Exit 18 (26 Av S) and head east to Martin Luther King St S and head north or Exit 20 (31 St S) and head north to 5 Av S, then east on 5 Av S to Tropicana Field.

Advance signage for 26 Av S coming up in 3/4 mile

Notice the old and new exit number signs on top.

You can reach the Stetson University College of Law and Gulfport from Exit 18

Simply take this exit, turn right on 26 Av S, then head north on 31 St S to 22 Av S. Another left turn will place you on 22 Av S westbound that will take you to both places as well as South Pasadena.

Final opportunity to exit Interstate 275 at 26 Av S

Again notice the old and new exit numbers here.

Signage for Interstate 275 south to Bradenton

Taken from US 19 (34 St S) as we look east on 26 Av S.

Signage for Interstate 275 north to Tampa

Also taken on 26 Av S looking east. Notice how motorists are directed to use 31 St S north to 22 Av S in order to reach northbound Interstate 275. Apparently this sign has been there since this section of Interstate 275 opened in 1982 and is in probable need of replacement as it is faded.

This is looking westbound on 38 Av S towards US 19 (34 St S).

Interstate 275 crossing 38 Av S, Part II

This is looking east on 38 Av S towards 31 St S.

Interstate 275 crossing 22 Av S

This is looking east on 22 Av S. Notice the new mast arm traffic signal that replaced the original span wire traffic signal when Interstate 275 was constructed here in 1982. Also notice the signage mounted on the overpass bridge: Traffic headed to Tampa will use the right turn lane to use a loop ramp to northbound Interstate 275 while traffic headed to Bradenton will use 31 St S and 26 Av S to reach southbound Interstate 275.

Interstate 275 crossing 18 Av S

This is looking east on 18 Av S. An issue at hand was to whether 15 Av S or 18 Av S be the through street; it was decided that 18 Av S would be the through street. North of 18 Av S is Queensboro Av S, which was the dividing line between segments of Interstate 275 that were constructed.

Proceed Southbound on Interstate 275 to Page Eleven

Proceed Northbound on Interstate 275 to Page Nine
